Somayeh Mehri, 29, and her daughter Rana, 3, live in a small town southeast of Bam city. The town is one of the poorest regions in Iran. Somayeh’s husband, Amir Afghanipour, being a thief and drug addict, was repeatedly beaten and detained her.
When Somayeh intends to divorce, Amir threatens to ruin the mold her face. One night in June 2011, he poured a bucket of acid on his wife and daughters when they are asleep.
